The Price

The Price

A Poem by luciddreamer
"

One of my oldest daughters writing

"

Upon distant shadows

Within city lights

Life has a way

Of making you stand and fight

When the church bells ring

On a humid Sunday morn

Society has a way

of making you feel torn

The choices we make

Simply from day to day

Creates reality's fate

And dues we must pay

and for every soul

that roams upon the land

Importance is what you make it

We're merely grains of sand

People come and go

And along with them, pain

But what are you to sacrafice

for the cost of gain

Love is the emotion

that we all require

but love is often replaced

with man's lustful desires

for mans biggest weakness

is the ability to lie

and that is the sin

that forces souls to cry

I'm not a scholar

just a person with advice

be good to your fellow man

because you'll always pay the price
