I remember the times you loved me

I remember the times you loved me

A Poem by luciddreamer
"

I got a phone call this morning, my mom is in icu, I wrote this trying to come to terms if I never see her again.

"

I feel the weight of humanity upon me today

While I try to come to terms with my own calamity

Theres really nothing I can do...

no one can

Just stay calm and reflect on the whole picture

not just the part that hurt,

or even felt great,

but the in-between, the things that didn't make sense,

the moments in life that I saw her as humane;

the songs she sang, when we would drive, just to drive, just to be, free

the times she stood up, instead of all the times she did run, the time she got between you and him although he had the knife.

You and her

are surely different, her outgoing, you introverted, and

we never could seem to understand one another,

but at last I smile for

I have remembered the times

you loved me....

yes my dear one~ for decades my realtionship with mother was confrontational at best~ and then one day just like a spark of enlightenment~ I realized she was a human being~ not just a 'mother'~ but once upon a time a girl, young woman, woman, mother, grandmother~shaped by her own experiences~ that was the day I really understood what it meant to forgive~
hugs~

I am sorry you find yourself in that situation, but the writing was amazing. I hope for the best.

Matthew
