Believe (And still I have my doubts, tsk tsk tsk shame on me)

Believe (And still I have my doubts, tsk tsk tsk shame on me)

A Poem by luciddreamer

I was told

you'll amount to nothing

you'll always need a man to take care of you

you'll wind up in the mental ward

AND I BELIEVED IT

So, I have been

I was told

your a PTSD, Chronically depressed, panic attack ridden soul with psychotic tendicies

AND I BELIEVED IT

So, I was

I pretended my daughter who I gut wrenchingly lost contact with for twelve years was alive and happy, married with children

AND I BELIEVED IT

So, she is

Wrapping loving arms around my lovely friend.... Believe that. Believe that.

Damn...now that is a stark reality right there. I like a good punch in the balls every once in a while...makes one catch their breath and thank God you have the sense not to make the same mistake again. Great writing here....

Isn't it strange how we prefer to believe lies than accept the responsibility of our own formidable power?
I am amazed at how well this Author articulates her frustration with this concept.
Seeing is Believing, no?
No. Believe, then See.
I think.

words are so so powerful~ unless we are made of pyrite and ignious rocks able to block or burn away those beliefs others would dream into us~ we are all affected to one point or another by the words of those we trust and love~ how cruel of them~the ones we hold intimately to wield the power of words in such careless manners~
but somehow we resurface out of all those cruel expectations and begin dreaming ourselves for ourselves~

how stunningly moving your last stanza~
