A letter to my daughter

A letter to my daughter

A Poem by luciddreamer

To My Beautiful Daughter,

First and foremost I want to say I appreciate you allowing me back into your life.  That was a risky decision and I do realize how difficult it was for you.  This last year and half has been some of the happiest times I have known since Doug has died.  I have had a purpose and I guess that is what life is all about.

We both know that we are on different paths.  You, going through so much at such a young age, learned quickly and heart-wrenchingly what your truths are.  I am proud of you for that.  You could not of become a finer adult in my book.  You are a helper without being a doormat.  You are a parent without being a torturer.  You are a wife without being a victim.  These accomplishments among many others, I hope you realize, you have given me hope to continue on the path that you are well aware of I have always been on.  I can't explain this pull at my soul, it just is.

I make no promises,  for my past shows me I know not what tomorrow will bring.  I just need you to know that I do not worry for you and yours, no matter what anyone else sees, I know the truth, I know the viscious circle of our pasts has been broken.

Love you with all my heart,

Mom

. oh gosh ... this is so beautiful ... so moving ... so heartwarming and so inspiring ... and these words ... i have so longed to hear from my mom ... your daughter is very lucky indeed ... and the following lines are just poignant beyond measure ...

You could not of become a finer adult in my book. You are a helper without being a doormat. You are a parent without being a torturer. You are a wife without being a victim.
