The Illusion

The Illusion

A Poem by luciddreamer

She did the best she could

Trying to get over the pain

and rejection she felt as a child

Trying to look past the moments of pure terror

to see the picnics in the grass, or

remembering the songs she sang

She tried so hard to look past the insanity

To see the humanity

But she couldn't

The pain held her in a place she thought she had forgotten

As she realized she couldn't make her Mother happy

Only herself

Hello Lucid,

Illusions, it's a harsh reality when the smoke and dust clears. When you finally see the harsh reality that it's about self...and everyone else could give a s**t. They want to be nice, they give you an encouraging smile. Then in the end, its only you...funny how it works out. Great write.

Regards,

Matthew
