Life's not fair, my child says. No it's not, I replied Why fall in love? Your heart could be broken, this is true. Yet, have you ever fallen in love? Have you ever felt anything so majestic? The confidence it sends to your soul is something that could never be bought with all the gold in the world. The happiness it brings is on a whole different playing field than any other emotion. And of course, the pain, that happens, when we become so close that we burn, is unbearable. Yet, let's be honest with ourselves, We may run and hide, we may build the walls, we may become so introverted that we never leave our small, small space But we will never, ever, not want to be loved, for all its pain is worth it, even for a moment in time.
So true, so true. And no it is not at all fair for all is fair in love and war! But you're right. I'll have to post my poem Still, it plays this same theme, but from the person hurt coming to the same conclusion. Here I'll paste it here for you.
Still…
Her love was such sweet sin,
that now I am to pay; damned.
What? Repent?
Confess, yes, to the whole world, my sin.
Yes, I loved her. I still do.
Repent. Never.
I know what I did.
Now I suffer.
But give me the choice to do it again
With the endgame, as before, much the same,
The answer would ring true through the mess,
Sounding far and wide, “Hell, yes!”
