The Opposite Side of the Tracks

The Opposite Side of the Tracks

A Poem by Luci_Unveiled

I've never sought after the type to attract attention,

I myself prefer to camouflage into the background. Yet there's a painted vision

in the back of my mind of a hand held happiness, a laughter in unison,

the birth of a mutual affection. Its like swiping away a tainted reflection,

the streaks marks left behind are little traces of hope that flare up , then fade

as the night drips away. yes matters of the heart are costly and im willing to pay

the price to sit beside you, to carry your weariness on my shoulders, to compromise with pride, to sacrifice the night's peace. this has proved acidic to my facade

of pretending not to feel warmth beneath my cheeks brought on by the thought of you, and ill speak before my mind thinks, leaving me in a whirlwind to eat my words

before they are noticed or heard. but if i could pause time,

i would pause time.

it would be on that very moment.

that very night

that very kiss

that very lapse of time into pure bliss

but you are now most likely tangled in someone else,

who too shares a love for the spotlight, no time for one who prefers to be camouflaged
