A Hero's Angel TearsA Poem by nostalgicwriterThe true measure of sacrifice is not what someone is willing to do; it's what someone is willing to leave behind and the strength involved from all sides. With dust in his lungs Clutching a photo to his chest Under a searing sun He knows it’s not for none
A gaze to the sky Fleeting memories fly by Focusing on all good times In the dust he still lies
On the grass there are tears From the photo’s tiny eyes Falling down on a man she’ll never know Clutching a photo of her own
She’ll understand when she gets old No answers now, just unknown But those tears of an angel Fell softly on a hero © 2015 nostalgicwriter |
