Weird Things About My Body

Weird Things About My Body

A Poem by Lucas Jay

If I take my finger

Place it on the tip of my nose

And press, it will pop

Like somehow when I was child

The cartilage in my nose

Broke and never truly healed

Sometimes I make up stories

About my nose phenomenon

And tell them to strangers

Like I was skiing in the Andes

When the sight of Bigfoot

Made me lose my balance

So I fell and started rolling

Down the mountain when I screamed

So loud it caused an avalanche

Luckily, I landed face first

On the edge of a boulder

As the snow rushed by me

And that is why my nose pops

When it is pressed

This is one of the weird

Things about my body

I have a third knee

Okay that is an exaggeration

But I do have a lump

Just below my right kneecap

During the summer of 2002

I grew approximately 6 inches

Causing the muscle and tendons

In my legs to stretch

Like a tightrope

For the next couple years

Walking up and down stairs

Was excruciating, there were days

When I literally crawled

Up from my bedroom

It is known as Osgood Slaughters

A Doctor told me the lump

Was a calcium deposit

Even today, if something

Hits the lump hard enough

It can bring me to my knees

My bellybutton is not

In the center of my stomach

I have no idea what caused this

I think I was born this way

But I could have done something

Completely stupid that changed

The location of my belly button

Upon googling why it is like this

I learned that I am not alone

In my plight; there are others

With off centered bellybuttons

There is one small problem

The women commenting

In these forums were pregnant

Wait a minute, have I been

Pregnant my entire life?

Maybe when I was in the womb

I ate my twin and his or her bones

Have been living inside my body

Ever since I was born

Like the rest of me

My hips are not straight

They have rotated counter clockwise

Because years sleeping on my side

The slight rotation does cause

Some pain in my hip

And my legs do hurt when I run

If you look down at my feet

When I am standing

They do not align properly

A chiropractor attempted

To straighten my hips

But like the time I attempted

To give up Gay for lent

It didn’t work, they like the curve

Your writing tells about embracing life, good or bad, w need to enjoy the view while we have it. It's all about not letting ill fait tear us down.

Interesting yet inspirational. The corrections has been stated by Emily White and I see that you have corrected it so I consider the writing spotless.

Very interesting...I loved the stories you told to explain why your body is the way it is. I did see a few small blemishes though....
"Even today if I something" ~ Even today if something?
"On the edge of boulder" ~ On the edge of a boulder?
A fun poem all the same. Nicely done ^_^
