SailingA Poem by Lucas JayI wrote this during the month of April when I was writing a poem a dayThe night you told me One of your life goals Was to restore a sailboat Spend the summer sailing From Boston Harbor Down the coastline To the Florida Keys I could picture myself Sipping wine watching The sun setting on the Edge of the Atlantic Holding your hand
Now we are no longer Sailing, but rather stuck Trying to play it cool Neither of us telling the
truth I have been living on the
edge Teetering between friends And lovers unwilling To let myself fall I know, deep inside Where you stand I could write a million lines And none of them would Bring you back to solid
ground
If there is one thing I want you to know It’s that I have never felt More comfortable with anyone Before you; With you it Was always like I was Standing behind a microphone Reading my deepest secrets To crowds full of strangers What scares me the most Is that I may not find That with anyone else © 2012 Lucas Jay |
