For J'Lynn On Her BirthdayA Poem by Holy GmaA poem I wrote for my grown daughter on her birthday. It expresses the wonder of her birth, the privilege of raising her and the lessons she, as a child, taught me.
Many, many, years ago
On a wednesday at half past five, a miracle changed my entire world, Brought me suddenly alive. A perfect baby girl was born to me. I counted 10 fingers and 10 toes. She had my mother's sparkling eyes. Definitely, her father's nose. As she grew and I cherished her, This miracle I had born. I did my best to protect her, true to the oath that I had sworn. I taught her many lessons Strove to set her thinking free. But I was wholly unprepared For the lessons she had for me. She taught me about courage; That I could be afraid and still get through. She taught me that silly things often have the most value. She taught me about dreams; To never have just a few. The more you have, the better the odds of one of them coming true. But, the best thing that I learned while raising Miss J'Lynn, is the importance of prayer, the power of faith, and how to make God my best friend. ©Linda Troxell 11/28/15 © 2017 Holy Gma |
