Promises Prayers and VowsA Poem by Holy GmaA poem about our responsibility to be faithful what we've vowed before God.
The next time you're tempted to brake a vow;
And you think that God understands; That because you're no longer happy, You need Him to bless a new plan. Remember our Lord in Gethsemane He prayed for another way. Asked His Father to let the cup pass, Free him from the promise He made. The Lord knew the road ahead of Him Was a road He was afraid to trod. But because He trusted His Father, In the end He acquiesced to God. When God leads us to make s vow before Him, He has decreed it Holy and just. And the vows He leads us to make Are seldom just about us. So, in choosing to dishonor our vows, Putting our happiness above our God, We also dishonor His love for us. A reality that can not be dodged. God holds us each accountable for our promises vows and prayers. He doesn't expect us to throw them aside When we find the road holds some snares. Any vow which we swear before God, Is sacred right from the start. And we can not betray our vows, Without also breaking God's heart. ©Linda Troxell 01/12/17 © 2017 Holy Gma |
