Hard as Bricks

Hard as Bricks

A Poem by Lionel Braud

Some of this and some of that

Dirt with purpose. Flowers without grain
Do presuppose a lonely ticket
With such an open train
If words say what they are
Than growth shall not weary passing

Looking out the window with curious grin
Full content is not at such - linger to spend…

Brushing away to find the mend
In my doorstep
The dirt collects and much…

But I hesitate…and think my words
Hard as bricks as such

I really love the rhyme scheme you use in this...it is subtle and masterful, not clumsy or forced in any way at all.

"Dirt with purpose. Flowers without grain
Do presuppose a lonely ticket
With such an open train
If words say what they are
Than growth shall not weary passing"

The idea of dirt having a purpose...that really makes me stop and think. This is a poem to linger on and then return to.
