How lucky I am!

How lucky I am!

A Poem by Louisa Chan

This path

This one-way path
My feet have treaded
A million steps

Too fast
Too hard
Too late to know
The end is close

This path
This lonely path
My eyes have seen
A thousand scenes
Not one remains
In memory I claim
What’s there to see?
Who’s there to meet?

This path
This difficult path
My tears have marked
A hundred scars
No rain to wash
Nor will to talk
They mar evermore

The path before

This path
This ending path
My heart holds dear
Each remaining beat
Each step I’ll tread
Each scene I’ll see
Each tear I’ll shed

Each memory I can keep

This path
My one and only path
Somewhat late to understand
Love has been the only end

This path

This path of love

Is mine to walk

And I have walked

Beautifully expressed poem Louisa. Short lines in a long stream seem to represent that path. The path of life itself which can be winding and difficult at times. At the end if we can reflect and know that we have lived and loved and been loved in return, that is all that matters. It is the love we leave behind in my opinion that counts. The loss of those dear to you tell you how well you loved. I hope you are happy and well dear Louisa.

I enjoyed walking this path with you, my friend. (The journey is a timeless one and the scenery, rearranging; but the destination is a final one and the axiom, never-changing.)

this poem sheds its coat like a waterfall leaping from a cliff.
Sometimes we get so caught up in the momentum of life, we have no idea how to slow it all down
enough to appreciate it or go another direction.
