The Mask

The Mask

A Poem by Louisa Chan
"

This one is about masks in relationships. It's up to your interpretation too as to what exactly "the mask" is in some complicated relationships...

"

Please, don’t speak; be quiet

Walk by my side

Listen to our sauntering footsteps

Playing a beautiful steady rhythm

Reminding me of your presence

Please, don’t take off your mask

Let me look intently at your big beautiful eyes

Warm and caring

Never will I ever want to uncover your mask

As I fear you would look different

No longer gentle and attractive

Please, let this stroll mask our relationship

Don’t tell me how you feel about me

Let’s worry about nothing

No commitment

No wrong or right

You are my special one at this moment

Which a mask does not make any difference

oh wow, that poem gets to me. It shows that the narrative voice is at loss. I don't know if it's autobiographical, but if it is, then you really anticipate a never bonding. :D
