Why cry?

Why cry?

A Poem by Louisa Chan

Why cry?

Why hide?

All those tears are too dry

All those memories you can’t hide

Why seek?

Why fear?

Every problem that’s not yours

Every opinion that hurts more

Why beg?

For pardon that’s yours to give

For a future that’s hers to live

Oh long night,

Wrap me with your cold and calm

Take me to an isle cut-off and far

I like this. We cry because we need to express our pain and joy. We hide because we are afraid of what others think and feel. We seek because we want to know the answers. We fear because life is uncertainty. We beg for mercy that is rarely forthcoming when we cannot accept the brutality of truth. But all these things are just part of being human; frail and wonderful, strong and unique and trying to find exactly where or even if we fit in. F.

I felt that need here to escape. When all the hurts of the world are bearing down on you, fly in thought to that quiet island far away from everyone and everything. Seek refuge in that calmness. Nice poem.
