freeverse writing true events

Fierce wind rushing through my ears,

Peyton tearing through the playground,

Her sister rapidly whirling around,

SMASH!

Thick paste in my mouth,

Salty tears streaming down my smoldering cheeks,

Feeling my newly broken teeth,

Suddenly a vast empty space,

Teachers frantically trying to comfort me,

Telling me to open my mouth,

True horror illustrated in her expression,

Rushing up to the nurse’s office,

Thick slimy goo easing the pain,

My mom weeping on the bench,

Maternal empathy,

Spilling over in form of tears,

Short sobs and muffled wails,

Driving to the doctors,

Patching up my shattered teeth,

Drills shrieking like nails on chalkboard,

Things will never be the same.

Great poem and one I can Identify with. When I was seven, I was hit in the mouth with a baseball bat...not a fun experience and the orthodonist visots that followed were not fun either. I enjoyed your poem very much. Well done.
