She Says

She Says

A Poem by lrigD
"

Monsters at night.

"
But they haunt me, is what she says
They come after me in my sleep
I wish I could make them go away
But they will never leave

But they chase me, is what she says
They chase me in my sleep
But whenever I call out
There's nobody but me

But they never leave, is what she says
They always stay with me
Maybe this is all they have
All they will ever be

And they never leave my mind
And they hide during the day
But at night, they come out
And they will always stay

Not sure this would be qualified as "Children's", since 1.it's not meant for children and 2.it could be about a grown-up too... anyway, here it is!

it could go either way~ that's the poem's allure~ with the slightest shift toward the light or toward the shadows the whole flesh of the write could metamorphose ~ very clever in that fine balance right in between~

This is interesting, I can see what you are referring to in a few different ways throughout the writing. Like they always say, "Everything gets harder when the sun goes down", reminds me of that country song. haha, anyway, this is an interesting poem here. Check mine out too please
