Everything

Everything

A Poem by Alma W. Reis

I am not one to worry about small questions.

The world is at my fingertips and omniscience exists.

I am not one to ask, who is right or wrong.

I am not one to ask, which is better or worse.

I know lots of little things, and they are all matter.

The big I can’t touch, however, worries me at night.

I am part of everything else, including myself.

Many things I was, am and will eventually become,

packed into something everyone calls “me”.

All the things I have, posses and once made.

Things I have seen, learnt and discovered,

tossed together into a complex being of existence.

Most of everything else, myself included

is part of something more, something bigger.

Something I can’t have, posses or make.

Nothing I can see, learn nor discover.

Something I can barely describe on my own.

Countless of them have whispered

“something is yet to be uncovered”.

I just hope, one day, for humanity's sake

Everything will be bigger than “me”, “myself” and everyone else.

The execution of this...is quite compacted and gives the reader much to ponder in relatively a short amount of time...and though the insight is reflected in each stanza and comes about to an understanding each individual person can take with them...you feel the brevity of the meaning...

For me, these lines say it all:
I just hope, one day, for humanity's sake
Everything will be bigger than “me”, “myself” and everyone else.

I hope so too.
