Eyes that surrender the mind.A Poem by Alma W. ReisA child looked at the stars, neglecting his paces. Eventually he tripped and fell on his own two laces, cracking his head in three different places. Enticed by the light, the child stared at the moon, unable to see the tree ahead he would hit very soon. Reprimanded time and time again he stared at his feet as he walked under the sky following the dull and grey concrete. His eyes lingered towards the setting sunshine, but a tap on the cheek returned him to his downward rite. Onward he went, never again tripping or falling, believing its was a safe walk, concentrated and reassuring. No one would believe his eyes had gone so blind and dull, that no spark was left inside his impoverished skull. He fell once more, for he no longer saw the way. He walked off a cliff, never again to see the light of day. For a moment he flew, before falling into the eternal abyss. Upward he landed and upward he found that long denied bliss. © 2014 Alma W.
