Snowflake

Snowflake

A Poem by Drea
"

on a noncommittal lover

"

Crystalline cutouts

Frosted art

Falling

Falling

From slate blue skies

Unique

Beautiful

Destination unknown

Drifting

Drifting

That's what you do

Drift

Drift into someone's life

Landing so gently

Silver whispers

Sunlit sparkling

Swirling just within reach

Just without reach

Then you drift

Called by the song of the breeze

Be it curiosity courage or fear

Drifting

Drifting

Perhaps just for now

Perhaps forever

I want to catch you on my tongue

But like a snowflake you melt

Melt away in the warmth of my mouth

Simply disappear

Another piece written when in late college more years past than I look or care to comment. Once again it too likely needs reworking. I don't think I am particularly strong with the more free form styles of poetry.

Your poem is amazing! I love the analogy with the snowflake here. You really put this together quite beautifully and it is enjoyable though sadly, relatable.
"That's what you do Drift Drift into someone's life Landing so gently Silver whispers Sunlit sparkling
Swirling just within reach Just without reach"
Your last four lines are clever and bring this poem to a brilliant close. So much for Mr. Freeze!!

you must have stopped (without a farmhouse near) one evening to watch the woods fill up with snow...in case no one has told you lately, you're a very fine poet...ed

The comparison of the lover to the kite is remarkable.

I picture a person who has so much to offer but has no direction. Perhaps a person who finds the world to be their utopia, thus never settling down.

I love the style of this poem, and the flow of your words!

Wonderful write!
