Black Martinis

Black Martinis

A Poem by Sabrina Claridge

the music jitters
as the lights scatter
across the thumping floor
1,2,3,4.
she breaks
from the crowd
of lusty animals,
reaching towards
her frosty
martini glass
1,2,3,4.
he watches
her take a swig and smirks
when she
tips it back
1,2,4,3.
she liquefies into
his touch and
giggles in pure
delight in his arms
1,3,4,2.
i watch as
he wrenches her
wrist back and
whispers hotly
down her neck
2,4,1,3.
i watch as he
tugs her towards
the back satin
back door
4,3,1,2.
i watch until the door
shuts and the
music muses against
my goose bumped skin
1,3,2,4.
turning back to
the endless crowd,
I hang
         my
             head
into my drink
and sway
a little
bit
faster
1,2,3,4.
"stop."
