Unwavering Hope

Unwavering Hope

A Poem by lovelyremains

. do you remember when i used to call you mine?

when my cheeks were rose petals

, tentatively blooming,

and your hands couldn’t stop their wandering.

. do you remember when you used to call me yours?

when they told us no but you whispered yes

, planting a seed of hope in my heart,

and your cracked lips were all i knew.

. do you remember when we belonged to each other?

when your arms were my second home

, we were a tangle of limbs,

and my body was your temple.

. do you remember when i made you all those promises?

when i said i’d always stay

, rooted by your side,

even if the whole world stood in my way.

. i meant it all back then, i still do.

you are my most beloved shrine

, a smile of sunshine,

a sweet lullaby of stars.

. do you remember when it all went wrong?

when the softness of your eyes was no longer there

, only thorns,

nothing but a soulless stare.

. i tried my best, i really did.

but your love for me it didn’t last

, wilting fast,

dying leaves scattered in the wind.

. perhaps you were never mine to have.

but i can’t stop these sleepless nights

, bitter and sad,

wishing for something you & i

never had.

. i wish you would remember

how much you meant to me

; how much i still hope

that “you & i”,

can someday become we.

I actually loved it. that was amazing but i don't quite the commas and full stops at the start of each line. Thank you for writing such a lovely poem.
