heartbroken or at peace?

"you have to let him go and move on, he'll just keep hurting you.."

reminiscing on sunny days,

when there was no rain to wish away,

it hurt letting you go

but, it hurt worse since i was forced to.

meeting you was amazing...

spending day after day with each other,

falling in love, 

sculpting eachother into these amazing human beings.

unfortunately, something changed for you...

you could never change for me

and be loyal the way i needed you to.

& if you loved me for me, you would see that you should've made that change.

i won't force you to change for me.

so i had to move on,

kowing there could never be a "us" long-term.

it killed me seeing you move on & be free

while i was left behind in the shadows

silently suffering...

there's no hard feelings though.

you taught me how to love

you helped me find myself,

you helped carve me into this amazing individual & i appreciate you for it.

you're someone who'll always have a piece of  my heart 

there's simply no negotiating it.

but, i changed.

not for you, but for me.

i loved you, but you also taught be to love myself more.

writing this, i began to reminisce on the battle i had to have with myself between my head & my heart. feel free to comment any thoughts or feelings
