the past having an effect on the future

when my world comes crashing down,
when my dreams become nightmares,
when my heart aches in the rain,

i think back.

when i feel alone,
when i want to go home,
when i need someone,

i think back.

i think back to you,
and your imaculate smile.

i think back to the days
when all i needed was to
hear your voice.

i think back to the day i first held your hand.

i think back to the days when you were my everything.

now i think...nothing has changed.
now i think,
my heart was right all along.

now i think...i've lost everything

because i have let go of the only thing i loved.

you are everything.

I really love this poem. Sometimes, thinking back about someone who meant so much to us can have a healing effect on the soul. I know I can really relate to this poem.
