Somber

Somber

A Poem by Amadeus the Loveless
"

Wondering if the world knows how to give back...

"
I feel somber today, so I bought myself a lemonade.
Now I drink lemonade on a somber day.
I don’t know what it is… fear, restlessness...
I don’t know why it is… but reality weighs a bit too much today.
My constant chase for joy is costing me my comfort, my conformism.
I feel raw, exposed to the world.
I’m so proud of that.

Isn’t that what I promised the world when I started writing poetry?
My entire self in letters? My blood, sweat, and tears?
I’ve given the world all it has asked of me
And it’s left me wondering…
If it knows how to give back.

Author's Note

Amadeus the Loveless
I wrote this two days ago when I felt the weight of these last weeks hit me. I've been very present for the last months in my daily life and at times I feel too seen, despite knowing how important it is to be visible. This was one of those times.

Suggestions or feedback is welcome! Thanks for reading me.
