The Way

The Way

A Poem by LeeAnne Elizabeth

So tell me if I’ll be the only one returning

The only one who’s willing to set foot on this land

My head knows this isn’t true

But my heart doesn’t seem to understand

People want things to be

The way things should be

That’s why they leave

But it’s why I’m still here

Tell me if I’m the only one who cares anymore

The only one who’s made up their own mind

Because if you’re looking for those glory days

You’re looking for something you will never find

Because you want things to be

The way things should be

That’s why you leave

But it’s why I’m still here

Things will never be

The way things should be

So if you want to leave

I’m staying right here
