Summer Sunsets

Summer Sunsets

A Poem by LeeAnne Elizabeth

I was half asleep

Dreaming of summer sunsets

When Spring bells rang again

A man walked up

I heard his voice

As nostalgic as it’s always been

People will talk

They will be angry

But I’m still here, today and forever

Just wake me up

I’ll be okay

This castle will stay together

Because I was there

When the lights went out

I turned them on for the fifth time

Kindness caught me

Careless as you are

Things will be just fine

Summer sunsets will return

Sooner than we think

I know they will

We’ll see the bells

Light up the sky

I know we will

We’ll smile again

And let pride take over

I know it will

Things will get better

We’ll laugh at this someday

I know we will

Because no matter what

Not even for us

Time doesn’t stand still
