Eyes

Eyes

A Poem by LeeAnne Elizabeth

I look at the eyes staring back at me

Eight eyes and my own would make ten

That mine look like theirs is more than likely

And that means that I’m happy once again

Slowly forgotten as I cried alone

I’m nothing like the others I used to be like

That’s when I was taken back home

To know what it’s like to be alive

It’s all I ever wanted

And I could break the world

Then patch it back together

I know I’m no longer a little girl

But with them, I’ll be young forever

This is it, this new thing

This is my crowd

Someday, I’ll stand there and sing

“I’m never too proud.”

It’s all I ever wanted
