Castles in the Ashes

Castles in the Ashes

A Poem by LeeAnne Elizabeth

Talk about this in the dark

So no one sees you cry

But by a shooting star

I can’t even look you in the eye

You can’t even say my name

Because it sounds like a rainy day

But we feel the same

So you won’t get away

Though we lost it all

And there’s nothing left

There are still castles in the ashes

You say, “We lost it all,”

“There’s nothing to be said.”

But there are still castles in the ashes

You’re already out the door

All of your friends are gone

Then who was I before?

What did I do wrong?

You say, “You can’t hold me back.”

There’s nothing else to do

It’s as forgotten as the past

In the life of me and you

But there are still castles in the ashes

Though we lost it all

There’s something left

You say, “We lost it all.”

But there are still castles in the ashes

So there’s more to be said
