"Only To Lose"

How am I to love you
When you wont let me in?
How can I be that person
If you never try to win?

How can I feel the feelings you have
If you don't hold them out for me to grab

How am I to love you
When you refuse to let me in?
How can I be your rock
If the mold never hardens?

How can I allow myself the little pleasures
If you don't allow our bond to ever be measured

I find it hard to believe that this was all for nothing
I find it devastatingly painful
To walk away from everything
And know that my attempts were far from sustainable

Some parts felt like they were forced just to achieve rhythm. But the message of the poem is really good. Nothing will happen if you're the only one who's doing everything. It takes two people for love to flourish. Thank you for sharing. :)

I read poetry aloud... that gives a sense of rhythm and flow... and a better understanding of timing and control.

I like the expressed thoughts... the flow stumbles - but the content has heart.
