Emptiness

The house feels so cold this night

The sky is empty

Silence brings about tragic thoughts

Then broken by the sound of hurtful words

I look in the mirror at the person behind me

Wondering how we got to this place

This place of confusion

Within this house of frustration

Could it be that this mistake we made

Will be the end of us?

Or have you found your hiding place

To run to when things break down

I do believe that your narcissism

Will eat you alive

It’s eaten me

I do believe that your lack of maturity

Is key

I truly believe that your unwillingness to change

Is what pushes me to do the same

And I believe with every fiber of my being

That this darkness looming down the hall

Is where you should make your bed.
