Do I Know You?

Do I Know You?

A Poem by lovejulez03

Do I know you in the hours of mourning?
Do I know you when the door closes behind me?

Unsettling to think that all this is so simple

Delightfully aggressive,

These feelings of swollen knowledge

Let forgiveness be the key to knowing

Let harmony be the hilltop you must reach

Let commitment be the obstacle to success

And let a wise mans words forever teach

Hold on to the innocence,

For it is easily lost.

A child’s eyes bear secrets

Of life’s lessons less taught.

Do I know you in this minute of grief?

Do I know you in dreamland as passion peaks?

Tastefully explicit, these urges become

To wrap my fingers around understanding

I do not wish to be numb

This life is so delicate and full of surprise

I wish not to awaken from shadows demise

Do I know you when your tears flow like wine?

And do I know you when your laughter comes alive?

Yes,

I would say that I know you very well.

The reflection that I see is one that will never fail.

This is really deep, and your poem hit home to me...I lost someone dear to me last year...that was my Father...I felt numb for a while. Such a soulful write in your poem.
