From Me to You

Sometimes all you need to touch someone with the parts of yourself that are still whole

Take the little pieces of me, my dear
And sprinkle them over your wounds

For I too have felt broken
And I too have felt defeated

But I have a little breath left
My light is still burning

So take the little pieces of me, my love
That are still intact and free of scars

For I too have bruised memories
I too have splinters left to step on

But I have dreams within the nightmares
And I have angels among the demons

So allow me, my dear
To share my smile

Allow me, my love
To share my light

And allow me to peel away the darkness
With the pieces of myself that were left for you..

I hate splinters, but I understand darkness, and scars since they too often determine the motion of our lives.. your poem says this in ways that allows us to pick up the broken pieces and hold them gently until healed.. it's a positive poem of hope and as you say, "my light is still burning", indeed it is!!! ~~redzone

Let me ask you, do you think you said what you wanted to say?? As the reader I thought it was enough, but whats in your heart that matters.. we write for ourselves, yet once out there we no longer determine its destiny.. others decide. Anyway I enjoyed reading very much.

Firstly I would like to say thank you for this piece. I would also like to say that I feel that this poem is a great definition of your poetry and what it does for me personally. It's so much wrapped up in it but the two lines that really hit home for me were

"For I too have bruised memories,I too have splinters left to step on.
But I have dreams in my nightmares and angels among the demons."

Giving hope yet also giving a realization that there is more hard times in life to get through.
