![]() I'm Sorry SallyA Poem by Scarlett Brooke![]() Sally looks for friends to play with.![]() "Hello Mrs. Bird, will you play with me? I have nothing to do and no one to see. We can sing songs and dress up my doll, Sometimes I feel I have no friends at all.”
"I’m sorry Sally, I can’t play with you, I have seeds to eat and flying too. You can’t tweet or squawk, or chirp a word, I’d really much rather play with a bird.” "Hello Mr. Frog will you play with me? I have nothing to do and no one to see. We can jump rope and bounce my ball, Sometimes I feel I have no friends at all."
"I’m sorry Sally, I can’t play with you, I have flies to eat and hopping too. You can’t ribbit or croak or fit in a log, I’d really much rather play with a frog.” "Hello Mr. Bear, will you play with me? I have nothing to do and no one to see. We can climb trees both big and small, Sometimes I feel I have no friends at all."
"I’m sorry Sally, I' can’t play with you, I have berries to eat and sleeping too. You can’t roar or grunt, or even scare, I’d really much rather play with a bear.” "Hello Mr. Wolf, will you play with me? I have nothing to do and no one to see- "Go away Sally, no
I won’t play, I have other things
to do with my day. Like growl and hunt
and run in a whirl,
And maybe, just maybe,
scare little girls."
"But Mr. Wolf it’s really not fair, If only I were a frog or a bear. Then all my friends would play with me, But I’m much too different being Sally.”
"The same can be nice, but it can get old, I’d rather stand out, be different and
bold. There’s so much to see, to learn and
to claim, And so much to miss, when you stick
with the same.
So go along Sally, I’m sure you can find, Friends as special, as fun, and as kind. Forget about those that want nothing to do, With someone who’s different, exciting and new."
"Oh Mr. Wolf, so big and so scary, With razor sharp teeth and fur that’s
so hairy! It’s clear that your heart’s as big as
your snout, I’ll surely find friends, I don't have a doubt."
And off Sally went, to play and to sing So special, so different, so fascinating.
