Opportunities

Emma fights with her conscience.

The sickest part is that she wanted him to say something, to do something. It was easy to reject him on moral grounds when other options were apparent but now alone, she found herself yearning for his attentions.

The questioning of her own ethics arose in her head, was she ever moral, or just an opportunist with better opportunities? She looked longingly at her dear friend and the baby suckling at her breast. She loved them both, and yet, could be their source of ruin. Of course she would not seek out his reaction, and would continue to act without his regard.
