Deception

Deception

A Poem by Nazca
"

A recent conversation with someone close to me had me thinking......

"

Deception

Misconception

We all hide things

Sometimes to protect others

Sometimes just our own mind

Exception

Misdirection

Mistrust revelation brings

Even from our closest brothers

Sudden truth can be unkind

But really its intent

And just our need to vent

To finish something half started

To wish well on those departed

And in the end who is to say

For no one realy has the right

Some truths should never see the light

We hurt those we hold most dear

While clutching to our fear

But they can see it anyway

Though they don't know what it is

Trust erodes more day by day

The heart of Human is exceedingly wicked. Who can know it?
I notice that this poem also has the hidden dirty mean little human inside peeking from beneath a stone..
'"We all hide things.. Sometimes to protect others, Sometimes just our own mind."
Is this the voice of this ugly inner self, proclaiming his lies and violations are 'for the protection of others, at least part of the time, which is also a lie?
If so, that is ingenious.
Or does the author believe that a lie can sometimes be of no consequence, indeed, can even be a positive thing.....
Well, I suppose each of us will have to weigh that stone for ourselves.
I like this persons work, it is interesting.

We all wear masks to the masque. We parade across the tableau dressed in the king's new finery until we believe it ourselves and the masks fuse to our skin. And yet deep inside, we know. We know and we dance anyway. Proud dance sometimes, ashamed others. The mask has taken over, can we wrest it back?

Very Perceptive of you Tony. Though I did mean it part as a "self justification" for telling lies that only relaly serve oneself, my personal belief is that there are times to lie if necessary to protect someone. For example if I were protecting someone from a killer who wanted to know where the person they want to kill is, and I know, I would lie. But as you said, we ALL have to weigh it against our conscience whther what we do is right or wrong. And the best measure of that for me is always if I am hurting someone for my own gain.
