Fun Drinking Game

Fun Drinking Game

A Poem by Hope
"

I know nothing I have to say matter unless it's written in Times New Roman, 12pt, double spaced.

"
Fun drinking game,

Do a shot for every grade that falls below your expectations, for every morning you

can’t physically get out of bed, for every college email you get begging you to pay

them money for rejection (did you know Stanford makes well over a million every

fall on application fees alone?).

Do a shot for every teacher who sneers at your excuses, for every dream you’ve

slowly had crushed, for every time you feel like you understand a lesson only to fail

the test.

Do a shot for every minute you’ve spent staring blankly at a textbook, for every

chapter you’re behind in reading (because, really, no one finds Dickens enjoyable if

they’re forced to read it), for every locker full of nothing but crumpled jackets and

discarded coffee cups.

Do a shot for every time someone asks what your plan for the next five years is, for

every opinion they have on your answer, for every lecture your parents give you

about the impossibility of your goals.

Do a shot for all of the “don’ts”, for the don’t do drugs, don’t drop out of school,

don’t have sex, don’t make excuses, don’t listen to your music too loud, don’t get in

trouble, and for heaven’s sake don’t tell anyone when something is wrong.

Do all of these shots and when the alcohol poisons your blood, maybe they’ll

understand that it’s no different than the expectations drowning you slowly.

You've always somehow explained who I am through the way you write about yourself.
