Love

A Poem by louisa
"

i'm not sure whether this would be a poem or a short story. I decided on putting it in the poem category but if that's wrong then please tell me in the comments! thank you for reading

"
Drip. Drip.
I watched the two rain drops fall. They raced down the window like galloping horses.
Side by side they streamed down the glass. Down and down until finally they merged together.
Becoming one.
"Here's your tea" you say, handing me a large mug of the steaming drink. I take it in my numb hands and feel it's heat spread along my fingertips as i take a sip.
"Thank you" i whisper, with a smile.
Many may think the words simple, and that they left my lips with no real meaning. That i was just thanking you for a drink,
But my eyes say different.
They lock with yours. Light blue onto intense green.
They show you everything.
My past. My present. My future.
They show you how i was lost. Helpless in a world full of darkness. But you brought light.
You showed me the beauty of the earth.
And sat there, in that window seat, facing the dull outside world of green trees and grey rain, i saw beauty. I saw light. I saw happiness.
I appreciated the way the rain fell with unnecessary haste.
I saw the tree's rejoice in the life-giving water.
And i knew that the sun lay hidden behind the clouds. I knew that it was shining brightly and heating the earth, though it could not been seen.
And that's what i was thanking you for.
"You're welcome" You murmured back.
And in those soft syllables you showed me how we saved each other.
Together we discovered beauty. We discovered faith. We discovered love.
Your eyes, as green as leaves, buried deep into my soul.
My eyes, light blue like the sky, searched you, peeled back your layers and settled into your heart.
Around us rain fell. It plummeted into the windows with extreme force.
Animals outside ran to find shelter in their homes.
We were in our home.
On that window seat, tea in hand, fire crackling joyfully in the corner.
We sat, eyes locked, for timeless hour, minutes, seconds.
And our hearts merged.
They joined together, like the raindrops on the window pane.
We become one.
"i love you."
"i love you too."

Could be either story or prose poetry. I would call this a epic poem. I know. All my poetry seem to be epic. The above lines I like. Tea or coffee can bring two people into conversation and great possibilities. I enjoyed the story. You led the reader to the positive ending. Thank you for sharing the excellent story.

You are welcome. When people see story. They refrain from reading. It is perfect prose poem.

Very effective comparison between the lovers and the droplets. And it very well set the mood for the rest of the poem.

Yes, agree with coyote. You must put it in the short story's catogary.
A beautiful effort dear.
