An Eulogy

Farewell to you my forever friend
Our carefree days have come to an end
Eternal changes now blow in with the wind
Goodbye my friend goodbye.

Promise to remember me and all the dreams we've lost
Buried now beneath winter's chilly frost
Lying still where they were carelessly tossed
Never to be picked up again.

Someday I will revisit this sacred place
And reflect on the changes times has wrought in her haste
Drink up full the past and savor the taste
Of the bittersweet memories it lends.

And at that time I'll draw up my memories of you
The places we'd been, the people we knew
How our friendship was pure and how it was true
And the pain of having it end.

Then I'll unwind my life back to this cold dreary day
When the colors of my life started fading to grey,
And my innocence started slipping away,
Never to return again.

This is very sentimental and deep. There is nothing that I would suggest changing because I feel it accurately represents these feelings of longing. Losing anyone is never easy. All that remains are the memories. While it can haunt us, we can cherish the past and continue to thrive, never taking anything for granted. It can make us better or break us. Nice job...!
