You Fade to the Past

You Fade to the Past

A Poem by Chasity Reynolds
"

written about that one person who inspires the sadness, and the new person who inspires happiness.

"
Tears fall like rain,
My heart broken all over again;
This never ending pain,
I'm tired of being stuck in the same place I've always been.

I want to run far away,
Leave this false love behind;
You tell me to stay,
But I've got somewhere else in mind.

That place is with his love,
Where his arms wrap around me;
Compared to you he is much higher above,
With him is the only place I want to be.

Slowly the image of your face starts to fade,
From my heart, from my mind, from my life;
The tears no longer cascade,
I drop the blood-soaked knife.

And he smiles,
Making my heart skip a beat;
Forever I would follow him, mile after mile,
As he sweeps me off my feet.

I knew that one day,
My happiness would come at last;
And with every 'I love you' I hear him say,
The further away you fade to the past.
