Slaying Agony

Slaying Agony

A Poem by Chasity Reynolds

A war was raging,
in the depths of my heart,
they figured out my weakness,
now they tear me apart.

I can't turn around,
without being put down by the cruel words,
I'm on the verge of tears,
though I'm only crying deep down.

I strap on my armor of silver and gold,
to hide what I'm feeling from the world,
I pull out my sword,
a weapon of what I feel,
because I'm ready to break the deal.

The world is spinning around me now,
but whatever happens I must not fail.
I'm tired of thinking about the what if's,
all I know is that this is my last chance.

So I walk on the plain where the battle goes on;
My lips are sealed shut,
as the anger boils up,
it's about time to explode.

I bring the sword above my head,
and I look my foe in the eyes;
they asked for it,
no wondering why.

As I bring the sword down,
I realize my true self,
and suddenly I know why lies have this effect on me..

Nobody needs to feel the pain of betrayal,
nobody needs to know what it's like,
so here's to a world of no more hurt,
as I slay the head of agony.
