Death's Face

Death's Face

A Poem by Chasity Reynolds

In the quiet of this life,
Death is lurking just behind,
so while you're thinking about your love,
just beware of what you could become,
life is short,
so why do you wait?
Death is lurking just behind,
try not to be afraid.
You'll tell him once that you don't want to come,
so he waits in the shadows for another run,
and when you're not expecting it,
you'll see Death's face once again,
but everyone wants a second chance;
so you laugh in Death's face and leave again.
When the third time comes you cannot run,
Death is ready for your blood.
You knew this day was to come,
don't be excited,
because Death is not fun.
Tell everyone you know that you're going away,
and you'll see them all again one day..
And Death stands there and watches with a smile upon his face,
as one by one he takes down the human race.
