Song of Sorrow

Song of Sorrow

A Poem by Chasity Reynolds

Dance to the beat,
hear this song of sorrow,
the boy doesn't love the girl,
it's a sad story to follow.

Every night she dreams of him
and all that could be,
but in reality
nothing is as it seems.

They exchange a smile,
but in the blink of an eye,
the tears come again
because to him it means nothing.

She yearns to tell him how she feels
with a hope that he feels the same,
but then he makes her laugh,
and she won't risk that for a fantasy.

Their skin brushes softly against the other,
a mis-step,
and accident,
yet electricity shoots through her.

Eyes raise at the same time,
and faces are close,
a blush rises to her cheeks,
so she looks away.

The pain she feels in her heart
is nothing compared to how it would feel
if their friendship was to end . . .

So forever she will dance to the beat
of this sorrow song.
