Inconsistant Consistancy

Inconsistant Consistancy

A Poem by Philomela Titania Lanx

The moon!
"O, swear not by the moon, the inconstant moon,"
I think Juliet a fool.
The moon
In its grandeur of white
Like that of a wedding gown
Is only as inconstant as your fellow human,
Is it not?
Only rarely never there,
And only rarely all there,
But always there.
It is no wonder that through-out the ages
The outcasts have been the ones to worship the moon,
And disregard the ever-faithful sun.
It is no wonder that the ones
Most unloved,
Most forgotten,
Are the ones to love nature's imperfections.
The moon.
Imperfectly constant.
Perfectly inconstant.
