Ignorance

Ignorance

A Poem by Mariah Mcintyre

this air i breathe is thick,
and this water i swim is deep.
i can't see the light in this tunnel
and ive lost all feeling in my feet.

i hear the voices when they speak
and i smell the scent of their hot belief
that if walking in the dark is easier
than finding the solution we seek,

then walk on, and walk fast,
for before you know it, you might fall,
and when youv'e tripped, gripped and slipped,
you might realize that youve missed your call
and soon youll realize...
it wasn't ever dark at all.

Disillusioned

Wake daily to squinting light
No recollection to that which was dreamt
Starting another pointless day, such a fright

Meaningless chatter and banter
Others, on the outside, seem accepting and enthusiastic
If able to use the third eye, you would see chaotic beings

You end your day exhausted and wanting nothing but slumber
You say to yourself, why are we all so mean and sarcastic
When your ambition is to get to the end of the day, you are truly blind and not seeing

There is nothing to end the ignorant cycle
Hence sheep we be
Existing as arrogant disillusioned idiots
