She Comes to Me

She Comes to Me

A Poem by Archie Logsdon

She comes to me in my dreams.

Where our lives are in balance

And the love flows warm and free.

When I awake, as I must,

In the cold grey light

Of a bitter Winter's day,

She leaves

And I am empty again.

I enter this reality

With resignation and make

My way through this barren landscape

And do

What I must to survive.

She comes to me in my dreams

Where we'll always be together.

And I hope that I see her tonight.

I like the second stanza, "and I am empty again," our obligations and basic needs fill our day, but its the things and people we dream about that fill us. Its a comforting read.
