girls in the bar...A Poem by BradFor Kerry's THursday Challenge #1: inspiration from "Catcher in the Rye" by J.D. Salinger.“That's the thing about girls. Every time they do something pretty, even if they're not much to look at, or even if they're sort of stupid, you fall half in love with them, and then you never know where the hell you are. Girls. Jesus Christ. They can drive you crazy. They really can.” Of course she was a crummy girl Do you have a light? Of course I was a gentleman and lit her cigarette Buy a girl a drink? I never liked blatant beggars, for the life of me So what do you do for a living? Already, she is sizing me up according to the thickness of my wallet I just love a man with a thick head of hair… Shallow intent gets a woman nowhere in my book Oopsie, guess I’ve had a bit too much to drink! (giggles) DANGER! DANGER, WILL ROBINSON! DANGER! Maybe we could go back to your place so I can freshen up? Maybe we could buy you a t-shirt that says ‘town bike’? I must apologize, for I’m not like this normally, I seem to have let the night get to me. Or perhaps you’re a phony, like every other woman with a gin streak in her and a lonely heart? I’ve always depended on the kindness of strangers… Do you think you’re Blanche DuBois from “streetcar”? she was a nutjob too. My what a fabulous apartment you have! Care for a drink, baby? © 2011 BradAuthor's Note
