Generation x

That’s us

Children of the 80’s

Intense

Decadent

Flock of seagulls hair

Mullet

Jeri curl

Spike

Leather clad

Parachute pants

Pinned pant legs

Boat shoes

Big leather boots

Sonny crockett

Sockless

5 o’clock shadow

And bright colours

Who were we back then

the pretty in pinks

the benders

the duran durans

Bangliscious Go-Go’s

New wave

Prince wave

Coleco and Atari

Apple 2 E

“de chicks can’t hoad de smoke…dats whut it is”

Sheena Easton

Wet dream

Scarface fantasy

We were

So into ourselves

With our ponytails

t-shirt sport coats

the world was our oyster

we did the jitterbug

snap snap snap

and put the boom boom into our brains

boy George

paved a new road

we were a generation

of sex, drugs and rock n roll

cocaine

nose jobs

tuck tuck

silicone…

who were we?

Hell, we didn’t know ourselves…

I'm glad I dissed it~ lol all the above was on the periphery of my attention~ busy as I was in my body paint at the Japanese club and getting pummeled by the 'love of my life'~ lol
hell~ if we can't laugh at ourselves we'll surely go homicidal~ ;)~

I missed it, darn it!

What wonderful pics you've created with just a couple or so words on a line, you've covered a generation's looks and feelings, music and being .. great writing!

I love every line of this - you nailed down so many memories with every one: brings back my twenties, when my earrings and shoes matched my outfit, and Purple Rain was my theme tune. No decadence for me though, just the good stuff.

I have not lived through the 80's, but this is like a timecapsel... I can ask myself the same question, and I think the answer would come out the same... when do we stop and get to know ourselves?

I tried to drag the 70's as far as possible into the 80's ~ remember the disco wars
