red light....

red light....

A Poem by Brad
"

a day in the life...

"

open eyes

bleary grey morning

stretch

joints pop

scamper

across wood floors

to the bathroom

stare in the mirror

manage a smile

your beard is good

for another day

wet hair

curly and black

hints of white

your father's irish red

fights to be seen

amongst all that

polynesian darkness

run a brush

across your teeth

a hand through your hair

deoderant

because you never know

when that next embrace

will happen

you start your car

twice does the trick

off to work

a red light

you can either stop

go forward

go backwards

....you turn right

have that first cup of coffee

and from then on

it's red lights

the rest of the day...

what appears mundane and everyday goes firefly red in your wake~ the understatement works beautifully to wind it up profound with the last two lines~
